Testing 1 2 3

Assalamualaikum,

Today i just updated my ipod touch to the newest ios. This means that my once jailbroken device which was full of free (cough...cough) games and apps have now been restored to its original app-less state. I'm turning a new leaf. No more cydia. If I want to purchase anything now, I'll go directly through the Apple appstore. If everything's free in life, how will the people who created these apps survive right? and on the plus side, i also get to download the 'cimbclick' app. Yeay~

So back to the topic. Since I've also downloaded Blogger on the ipod, i decided to give it a try. This'll make it easier to blog on the go. ;)
That was the whole point of this post. To test this app. That's all.

Forgive my ramblings.
Goodbye.

*extra*

We went to Landmarks again today. Yey~
Christmas sale going on at BHS. Buy while stocks last.

Shopping with a friend, n her mum

Assalamu'alaikum,

This afternoon, after Usrah, I went out with Auntie H and Atiqah to Landmark Mall. It was actually an impromptu decision. Atiqah wanted to buy gifts for her friends back in Malaysia. Unlike I, who is in a 4 months intensive semester holiday life (can you believe it? 4 months!),  she only has around a week left before her new semester begins. I've been lazying around for 2 months already and still don't have the desire to go back to university. Who would want a long holiday with your family, all expenses paid for, to end right. Surely not moi!

So yeah, anywhoo~ both the mother and daughter bought many stuff along the way. I'm the one who recommends them to enter H&M, Lush, etc., but in the end, I didn't buy anything from there. Promote shop orang adalah, belinya tidak. Money's not the issue but I'm the type that has the nafsu to splurge only with my mum. If I'm with friends, I like to window shop. Why la? I guess it's because I'm indecisive. It can take me like 5 minutes staring at an item that I want, but when my friends are about to leave the shop, I just change my mind and thought mahal la, nanti membazir pulak kan. Hmm...lain kali la. And ends up not buying anything. And that is not the case when Mama's around. If we go shopping together, hah...semua I nak angkut. If I can, dengan kedai tu skali nak di beli. Manja bebenor~ Well, at least my dad doesn’t have to worry about his money being spent on unnecessary things when I'm in university. Well...not that much anyway.

Back to the story. So after penat jalan2 we went to eat at Wafi Gourmet, a traditional Lebanese cuisine restaurant. Today was the first time I actually ate there. It's quite a high end restaurant with quite a high price tag too but since ada orang belanja, I on je. No tolak-tolak rezeki yang datang bergolek right. Huhuhu~~

Taken @ Wafi Gourmet.
Oh, and at the end, I did buy some stuff. There was a buy 2 free 1 offer @ The Body  Shop. Since it's one of my favourite beauty shop, I can't resist the offer. I just LOVE the tea tree facial foam wash. I've used up 3 bottles already. This time, I decided to try their products for sensitive skin.
Left: Aloe Gentle Exfoliator (QR60) Right: Aloe Gentle Face Wash (50)

Vitamin C Refreshing Face Spritz (QR73) I've always wanted to try this. A little pick me up =)

The food was quite nice. Auntie ordered lamb chops, salad, tabouleh, chicken briyani and lamb majbous (Arab rice). Since there was only 3 of us and the serving was big, and because I didn't eat as much as usual since I'm TRYING to lose weight, kononnye, we had to pack the remaining food. We were so stuffed at the end! JazakAllah Khair Auntie <3 p="p">

I bought this Neutrogena deep clean make-up remover in Carrefour for QR 22. Auntie also belanja I ni. Murah rezeki betul today. I've been looking for a makeup remover wipes and this is the product some people recommend when I searched it up on the net yesterday. So now, when I'm feeling geli-geli...opps, girly-girly gitu, and wants to put on some powder and eyeliner, I have no worries that the water doesn't cover the whole of my face completely when I perform my wudhu'.  Yeyy meee~ (Pronounce it with London Tipton's slang in The Suite Life of Zack n Cody) =D

Of inventions, school & etc. etc. along the way

Assalamualaikum,

Okay, the title probably doesn't make sense since it's a compilation of titles for separate events.
Oh well~Otokajo? (korean konon. perah santan) My plan was to write these individually but what to do, the 'malas-ness' was too strong. So, I'll just summarise what I've been doing from last week up till today in one gigantic post. Check it out y'all.

1001 INVENTIONS [FRIDAY 9.11.12]

Okay, so..ehem..two Fridays ago, while our family was lepaking and chillin' out in the living room, out of the blue, mama brought up the idea of going to see the '1001 inventions by past Muslim civilizations' exhibition @ the Museum of Islamic Art. Dah malam kot so why suddenly maaa? Oh, rupanya the exhibition closes in 2 more days. Even though I never knew that this thing has been going on for around a month in the first place.
So~~after much deliberation between le parents. Skejap, abah penat so malas nak pergi, skejap, mama cakap rugi tak pergi, aiyoo. Last, last, as soon as we got the green light from Abah, we all dressed up gitu-gitu je, ok...dressed down? and rushed out of the house.Okay, fine, not THAT rushed. We went out around an hour later.

We got there after Maghrib. I was imagining the exhibition being outdoor but actually, they set up a tent  for the event. Cool!

As soon as we entered, the usherer told us to quickly take our seats as a short video will be played in less than 5 minutes. Wow, talk about perfect timing. Oh, this is the link to the video we watched at that time. It's basically an introduction of what the so-called 'dark ages' was actually about. Who knew that it wasn't so dark afterall? Now I finally understand what the Golden Age is. Tak faham? Click la link ini ye~

Next, since this is still part one of my super long post, I'll just show some interesting things I found throughout the exhibition.

I'm an engineering student so this is interesting. Though I'm not a civil engineering student but oh well =)

My grandma thought this guy hanging on the ceiling was real. Oh she's so cute

These pictures are interactive screens. That pretty lady in the middle is supposed to be Shifa. The nurse during the time of Caliphate Umar Al-Khattab RA

Olden medical utensils. Can you believe modern hospitals still use these. And can you believe the Muslims are not given credit for these?

Turn your head 90* to the left. Don't know why it doesn't rotate

Arabic words adapted by the West

The Museum of Islamic Art, Doha. The interior is AH-Mazing but we din't go in this time.

That is just a white cloth. The man is on a screen. How cool is that?
My daddy looking through a camera made by a civilization from centuries ago. This paper box is the basis of modern cameras. SubhanAllah!

In front of the 'Elephant clock'. AKA, the United Nations Clock as they call it. Why? Duh, look at the dragon, elephant & that Arab sitting on that elephant. One World concept. LOL.How did the Muslims came up with this idea? Talk about creative!

DC SWIMMING GALA [13.11.12]

So on this day, my sis took part in the swimming gala for the first time @ her school. Well, her school was my former school. Oh,missing those times when all we do was study for the IGCSEs. School felt like such a bore back then and it felt like the subjects couldn't get any tougher but boy was I dead wrong. University life~~ lets not go there.

Anyway~~back to the topic, yeah, it was the swimming gala! I remembered joining the event reluctantly in Yr 7 if I'm not mistaken. There were a couple of races but I decided to do the 'backstroke' And girl...was it embarrassing. Not only was it hard to breathe when the water keeps going up your nose but I also came last too. Now that's unexpected...Not. Oh well, it's a thing of the past anyways. Memory, begone!

Anyway, anyway...this post is not about me. It's about my sis. She's currently in yr 3 and she did 2 races. The horsey noodle (apakah?) relay and the body board race. Once upon a time, when I wasn't that exposed to the world of English vocabs, chewah~, I remembered thinking that the horsey noodle race was a race where the person swims while holding a packet of Maggi in their hand.Don't laugh. I'm dead serious. That's the only kind of noodles I knew back then. And was I wayyy off the mark  =p
DC! This sign wasn't present during my time. :(

Yellow bench. Our place once upon a time.  GO UNICORN GO!
Mayra getting ready for the Maggi noodle race. Or was it horsey noodle?

Wow! what happened to the astroturf. I remember playing tennis here when the grass was not installed yet.
Feelin' a little nostalgic. Many things have changed since year 11

Mine! Break O' Day

Khalas! Finished. And what a long post it was. =D

Have we pleased Him?

At-Taubah (9:111)
Verily, everything; our wealth, family, intellects, all come from ALLAH the Almighty.

Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA): Allah's Messenger (SAW) said,

"Allah guarantees him who strives in His Cause and whose motivation for giving out is nothing but Jihad in His Cause and belief in His Words (Islamic Monotheism),

that He will admit him into Paradise (if martyred) or bring him back to his dwelling place whence he has come out with what he gains of reward or booty."

-Sahih Al-Bukhari

Oh Allah, let me be among your slaves whom You are pleased with and not among those who anger You. Ameen.

"And if you turn away (from Islam and the Obedience of ALLAH), He will exchange you for some other people, and they will not be your likes." (47:38)

A little sharing - sutrah

The Prophet (peace be upon him) says:
"If a person who passes in front of a praying person could realise the gravity of the sin, it would have been better for him to wait for forty rather than pass in front of the praying person.
The narrator was not sure whether the Prophet (peace be upon him) said forty days or forty months or forty years"

(Reported by Imam Bukhari)

Advice: Before commencing your prayer, put a 'sutra' (object) in front of you which acts as a boundary between you and passersby.

Wallahualam~

Kuala Kangsar.

Yesterday, I was bored. My roomate was out, and so were many of my other housemates. Everyone was homesick so they went home.
Lucky them.

Fortunately, Aida invited me to go to Kuala Kangsar. Around 45min-1hr drive from UTP. Knowing me, I was excited. A new place to visit!

Thus, at around 10am, after Dan picked us up at V5 and Efa at V4, off we went! It felt like it has been such a long time since I enjoyed myself. Of course, it was not possible since every single day was packed with classes, assignments, quizzes and not to forget, events. But, I don't whine. This is what students have to go through right =)

The first place we visited was near Sungai Kangsar. I don't know what it's called but the place was like a pasar malam, except that it was all under one huge dome. Since we had not had our lunch, nor breakfast, we stopped by one of the food arena. I had 'pasembo' (rojak) as well as cendol! Though the serving was small, it was nice to be eating something that was not university food. Teringat Abah~

Later, we walked around randomly and after less than 1/2 an hour of walking, and after buying 2 fried wantans and sosej (tamak punye budak!) , the four of us sat in the hut near the river. The day was very VERY sunny and hot. By this time, yours truly were already 10 shades darker. Is that even possible? tsk.

After barbequing ourselves, we went to perform our Zuhur prayer at the Ubudiah mosque. Actually, throughout the whole day, we kept going back to the Masjid for prayers since the 'royal city' was quite small. The masjid was beautiful, MashaAllah and it reminded me of the story of Aladdin.

Masjid Ubudiah, very close to the PALACE

Oh, here's the best part. After so many detours...we finally arrived at Ulu Kenas recreational park! And~~we got to mandi sungai! It has been ages since I last saw a stream, let alone enter it. The funny thing is, it was an impromptu situation. Thank Allah both me and Aida brought along spare clothes. Dan and Efa on the other hand did not. While Dan went to buy some clothes for himself, us girls went in, with jeans, shirt and all into the water. Apa punya anak-anak dara ni~~ tsk.tsk

the very COLD stream

Us Girls <3

After a few hours of dipping our feet in the water, falling so many times (okay, that's just me, unfortunately~) we went back to our first destination. To do what? To makan2 of course! We had sotong tepung, telur bungkus, ikan siakap tiga rasa, sayur kailan ikan masin and not to forget tomyam! No wonder I was so bloated and cannot breathe properly afterwards. Oh, no pictures for this since we were busy munching our way through the food.

I thought we would be back around evening but we actually arrived back to UTP around 9pm~
All in all, it was an awesome one day getaway from studies and assignments.

Tired. n Tips for the Ladies

Assalamualaikum,
It is now 2am in the morning.

Went to the forum 'Baju Kurung bertemu Baju Melayu' @ Undercroft tadi. Was awesome and entertaining, as well as informative. Learnt a lot about what to do and not to do when you're with the opposite gender. There were two panels. One of them was the Timbalan Mufti Perak, Ustaz Zamri.

Macam pernah dengar nama tu dulu...tapi kat mana ye? Well, paper pun, it was sangat lah best~

Let me give you some tips mentioned during the talk - InsyAllah we may get something out of it.
Though the tips are for both genders, I think it is more relatable to us ladies. kan~~

- If you want to speak, make sure the things that leave your mouth is something good, not just full of 'taik ayam' ye. If the thing is not of something good to start with, adalah lebih baik we just shut out pretty little mouths

- Lower your gaze. (Heard this many times before? Sape yang buat?)

- Don't sit in pairs. Although this applies primarily to that of boy-girl. It is better if you prevent close proximity even between the same gender...if you feel that they are...ehem, ehem..tidak berapa nak lurus

-We girls must be serious when we speak. Our voice is not aurat to start with but it is how we make use of our voice. The intonation

example-
Kalau cakap dengan suami, boleh pulak terpekik dan melalak macam Jane cite Tarzan tu. Tapi time boss call..suare...Alahaii~~ pijak semut tak mati (betul ke peribahasa ni?)

Lastly, control your actions and movements
Please don't swing sana swing sini ye...kalau nak buat jugak, pergi la swing kat buai sana ye. Kesian kaum adam...

Itu je lah from me. Ngantuk sangat mataaa. Esok was thinking of going driving but unfortunately, my JPJ test is going to be postponed. Fully booked babe! Kcian, Kcian (Upin Ipin style)

Tak pe la, ada hikmahnya kan~~
If I don't go driving...

I can prepare more for the test. Maybe Allah knows that I'm not ready yet
I can studyyyy (InsyAllah, kalau distractions tak ada)
I can continue all the event works that are put on hold

hehe~~

1st day of driving.

Assalamualaikum,

First of all, I would like to apologise beforehand to those who are reading this, well, probably 'yours truly' je yang read but anyways...I want to say sorry if this post will sound dull and boring. Having a severe case of mental blockage ATM.

So, guess what! I drove last Saturday. On the Road. First time. EVER.
Say what you may...noob ke ape ke but to me, it is such an accomplishment. Even though it was my 1st hour of driving after getting my L license, I feel like 'A BOSS'. Teehee

At first I thought we were just going to just drive inside the circuit. Ya know, the usual - hill, side parking and 3 pointer. I was 'heaven' nervous when I first sat in the driver's seat, thinking that I would screw up big time...just like the 1st time and get told off. Big Time.
Shockingly, with the help of AlMighty Allah, I was more confident and I was actually able to drive without constantly pressing the minyak and clutch at the same time and cause the engine to jerk and pass out on me. Like I did the 1st time. Noob. =[
Now I know why my parents never let me try driving in their car. Obviously they care about the well-being of their beloved belonging. Me, not the car la obviously. (...Ye ke?)

After making 3 rounds around the track and has parked the car at the waiting zone, my driving instructor casually said that we will be driving on the road today. This is how it goes, more of less-

Abg F: Ok, lepas ni kite pergi on the road
Me: Huh??!! (Automatically, my jaw dropped. )
*In my mind: *style African-American cakap* Oh no you di-ent (didn't) just say what I thought you said dowg. You gotta be kidding me. I'm still a child. You percaya ke you can still LIVE kalau you let me be on the wheel?!

Me: Tapi ni kan baru first day. Takkan nak drive kat jalan kot? Saya bukan nya terror drive.
(Dah kalut dahh~~)

Abg F: La...sebab tu lah ada lesen L. So boleh drive kat jalan raya. Kalau kat dalam institut tak banyak yang boleh belajar.....

ME : ZONE OUT

Tapi Alhamdulillah, dengan kuasa yang Maha Esa, a week has passed and up till today, I am still living healthily, with no body injuries or what not.

To say that everything went smoothly...hmm, not quite. It's a norm la right, for newbies to make many mistakes on the road due to inexperience or like me...just plain nervous at the time which resulted in bad body-brain coordination.

Below are a few major miscommunications that took place between me and the instructor. Seriously, kena korek telinga lepas ni. Adoyai~

Red: Instructor
Blue: Me
Ok, here, signal right. Ohh. ok, ok. Easyy~ (Put on LEFT signal)
Change gear, But as I've told you millions of time, remember to...   Oh, change gear? Ok (Terus change while pressing minyak. Those with manual car should know what happens) ...press the CLUTCH FIRST!
Ok, after that Shell signboard...slow down to 30 Ok, I can do this ( Pressed the gas instead of clutch, car speeds up.)

Ok. Ada lagi banyak but lets justs stop right here.

Ok la. gtg, Going downstairs to do a full body checkup. I think I know my condition anyways but sebab nak memalukan diri and to face the fact, I will just go. haha =p
